Gillian has been playing the trumpet for 12 years, and though still early in her career, she has developed into a spirited musician in many genres of performance. For three years Gillian sat in the lead chair position with the Toronto All Star Big Band and has played over 100 private galas, theater shows, and weddings with the group. The band has also toured many music festivals in the southern Ontario, as well as in Clarinda, Iowa and the Villages, Florida. Currently, she is the band’s first substitute trumpet player.
As an orchestral player, Gillian has played with the Summerhill Orchestra, the Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra, the The Italian Canadian Symphony Orchestra, Opera Bel Canto of York, The Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra and in the summer of 2018 Gillian was a member of the National Academy Orchestra under the director Borris Brott in Hamilton, ON.
Gillian also has extensive musical theater experience including the Dora Award-winning production of Kiss of the Spider Woman by the Eclipse Theater Company in 2019.
As a soloist, Gillian is often requested in churches around the GTA, playing at many services around Toronto during the Remembrance Day, Easter and Christmas seasons.
As an educator, Gillian manages a studio of 30 piano and trumpet students with ages ranging from 6 to 60. She is always enthusiastic about teaching and sharing her love of music with such a diverse group of people.
Gillian graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music in 2017.
